rock throwing lady: zero, bike hippies: 1

1) Mrs. D begins shouting threats out her window at Mr. S and myself while we are in stopped traffic waiting at the red light at the intersection of negley and center. We were behind approximately 5 vehicles in the right hand lane waiting to proceed straight. Mrs. D was directly behind us, also in the lane to go straight, or so I assumed, as she had no turn signal on when I glanced back at the shouting.
2) The light changed and traffic proceeded on Negley. Mr. S and myself were directly behind the slowly moving traffic keeping pace. While continuing to shout obscenities at us, Mrs. D proceeded to "floor" her accelerator while dangerously swerving into the left lane designated as a lane for turning left only. She narrowly missed brushing Mr. S, who was on my left, while doing this.
3) Instead of turning left as the lane markings and signage indicate, Mrs. D continued through the intersection at a high-rate of speed without slowing or stopping, passing on the left, me, Mr. S, and the other cars which were legally proceeding straight through the intersection. She illegally drove her car head-on into the oncoming left-turn lane at this point.
4) At this point, Mrs. D almost collided head-on with a cyclist who was proceeding from the Baum Boulevard and South Negley Avenue intersection toward the South Negley Avenue and Center Avenue intersection. Mrs. D had to slam her brakes to avoid hitting a rather alarmed cyclist who then proceeded off toward center.
5) Without proper left turn signal, Mrs. D then proceeded from the oncoming lane toward Roup Avenue, across yet another lane of oncoming traffic.
6) As Mrs. D stopped here behind perhaps 2 or 3 other vehicles at the red light at Baum Blvd and Roup Avenue, I began to read her license tag aloud so that Mr. S and myself could more easily remember the tag, because at this point, I had decided that I needed to report this dangerous driving and harassment of cyclists to the authorities. My bicycle was in the lane behind Mrs. D' vehicle at the point marked 'A'. I made no movements toward her vehicle, whatsoever.
Within seconds, Mrs. D opened her driver's side door and exited the vehicle continuing to shout epithets directed at me such as "b...." and "f....." while the light turned green and the cars in front of her proceeded forward. I should note that Mrs. D failed to turn on her 4-way hazard lights while stopped in a lane of travel. She violently approached me, at which time I retreated by pedaling my bicycle away from her to the opposite side of Roup at the location marked with a 'C'. There was a pothole in the center of the street which had some crumbling asphalt in it. Mrs. D proceeded to pick up slightly smaller than fist-sized chunks of the asphalt and began to throw at least 3 chunks at me, missing each time. Upon seeing this and while talking to the 911 dispatcher, Mr. S who was now stopped on the sidewalk with his bike at the location marked 'B' shouted "Stop attacking my friend!", this distracted Mrs. D and she began to throw rocks at him instead. One of the chunks of asphalt struck the spokes in the back wheel of Mr. S's bicycle and broke the white safety reflector which was attached to the wheel by one of the spokes. I suggested to Mr. S at this time that we move away from her, and I ducked around to the parking lot in the back of the small building on the island bounded by Baum Boulevard, Negley, and Roup (marked with an 'D' on the image). During her rock-and-insult-throwing tirade, Mrs. D told us that she was going to "report us to the police", when I asked her "What for?" she had nothing to say at the time and continued screaming epithets and coming at me.
7) Even though I made every effort to get away from Mrs. D, she continued to pursue me on foot from the opposite side of Roup to this point. By this time, she had also moved her car onto the sidewalk and into the parking lot of the business on the island at the point marked 'E' on the image. She was menacingly coming at me swinging and when she wasn't swinging, she was looking around on the ground for, i assumed, more things to throw at me. Of course, words were exchanged, but at no time did I ever approach Mrs. D in any manner that could be perceived as threatening. At all times I was concerned with staying away from her and remained on my bike and was moving away from her as she continued to advance toward me and shout threats at me. I continually suggested to her that she should get back into her car and wait for the police to arrive, since she had already commited simple assault against my friend and I by throwing rocks at us.
8) Mrs. D then proceeded across Roup to the other side of the street where Mr. S was waiting for police to arrive and took a swing at his face with a closed fist which only grazed Mr. S, but she also kicked his rear wheel, almost knocking him off balance. This immediately caused his wheel to be "out of true" which had to be repaired at a cost of $10 at Iron City Bicycles, 331 Bouquet Street, Pittsburgh, Pa 15213 (412) 681-1310. The cost of the reflector broken by the asphalt chunk thrown by Mrs. D is unknown at this time.
The attack on Mr. S was also witnessed by a person working at the Dodge dealership across the street at the location marked 'F'. This was verified by the responding officer and the officer entered the Dodge dealership to speak with the witness but this person refused to give an official statement to the officer.
Mr. S and myself next distanced ourselves even further from Mrs. D to the location marked with a 'G'. Mrs. D was now at the location marked 'E' by crossing Baum Boulevard. We waited for a very long time for the police to arrive and we became increasingly uneasy not knowing if Mrs. D called the police or instead for someone to come and help her attack us more. As we were just about to leave, having assured ourselves that Mr. S had given his name and phone number to the dispatcher if the police needed to contact us, a police cruiser came by and we were able to flag it down.
I estimate the time between when Mrs. D opened her door and began assaulting us and the arrival of the police to be approximately 20 minutes.
so, today was the court date for that and crazy lady GOT HERS: GUILTY, $10 RESTITUTION, $300+ in court fees! she even had the gall to have her witness lie under oath. afterward, she was grumbling at my pal Mr. S "you know i didn't hit you...etc" we ignored her and walked out of the courtroom.
we had more important things to attend to: it was time for sree's indian food!
